What to do in London This September

September marks the beginning of the end of summer, but that’s not something to be sad about. It simply means that there is plenty of events happening in London for you to enjoy. September is one of the busiest of months in London, coming just after festival season and bringing a good selection of more chilled and inspiring events. We wanted to bring you a selection of these great events that may interest you in the upcoming month, as well as events you would certainly not want to miss.

Open House London

Open House London is an amazingly interesting event, where for a weekend only some of the most private and elusive buildings to enter open their doors to explore. These buildings and parks tend to be ones of great architectural or historical importance which are now privately owned. Examples of buildings you will be able to see during this time include 10 Downing Street, The Gherkin, Christ Church Spitalfields, the BT Tower, and St Paul’s Cathedral. Buckingham Palace Tour

September is the last month where it is possible to visit Buckingham Palace for its summer tours. This year’s opening features a special exhibition dedicated to Princess Diana in celebration of her life, 20 years after her passing. Alongside this new exhibition, you’ll be able to see some of the crown jewels, the interiors of the palace, and a historical insight into the country’s Royal Family. Adult tickets for the tour are £23, but there are also family tickets available.

BBC Proms

Whilst the BBC Proms takes place throughout the summer, September is especially important as it will mark the closing night which is the biggest feat of the event. The 123rd edition of the classical music event presents more than 90 concerts including 30 premieres. Frieze Sculpture 2017

Keep your eyes out for interesting sculptures in Regent’s Park this September as Frieze Sculpture takes over the gardens. For this month the garden will play host to 25 fascinating sculptures from some of the world’s most prominent contemporary sculptures, including the likes of John Chamberlain, Urs Fischer, Gary Hume, Michael Craig-Martin, Eduardo Paolozzi and Ugo Rondinone. There is also a free audio tour app to help you navigate through the gardens and learn more about the pieces.
