June Roundup: Events in London
One of the busiest months in the capital in terms of events, June has plenty going on with something for everyone. In this blog post we wanted to give you a quick round-up of some of the great events to expect in the coming month.
London Food Month
The whole month of June is for the first time being known as London Food Month. There will be plenty of food-focused events, street food markets, and cooking demonstrations and restaurant offers across London.
One great example is the Food Month Night Market which will be taking place from 7-18 June at Perks Field in Kensington Palace Gardens (right around the corner from 130 Queen’s Gate). There will be top street food vendors, a Bloody Mary masterclass, and a selection of films showing at the Westfield Open-Air cinema.
Taste of London
The Taste of London is another food-related event taking place from 14-18th June in Regent’s Park. This is where many celebrity chefs will teach classes and offer tips, and there’s plenty of workshops you can participate in. Amazing chefs such as Alex Atala, Massimo Bottura, and Ollie Dabbous. Tickets are selling out fast so get buying if you can!
Open Garden Squares Weekend
If you’re a fan of London’s vast green spaces, then the weekend of 17-18th June is definitely one for you. Many of the private and hidden gardens of London are opened to the public for one weekend only, to allow you a sneak peek into those often undiscoverable areas.
More than 200 gardens will be opened to the public, including the gardens of 10 Downing Street and Belgrave Square, a private garden surrounding by grand mansions.
Trooping the Colour
Marking the Queen’s Official Birthday, Trooping the Colour is an escort and parade of soldiers, carriages and the Horse Guards outside Buckingham Palace. The Royal Air Force will also fly past, and it is a marvellous spectacle. Definitely worth a watch if you get a chance.
Father’s Day
Father’s Day falls on the 18th June this year, and this means that there’ll be plenty of wild and exciting activities and events in the city to celebrate. Some great examples are snorkelling with Sharks in the SEA LIFE Aquarium, or booking a Speedboat ride on the Thames.
Chestertons Polo in the Park
If you’re a fan of Polo, consider this pitch-side fun in Fulham’s Hurlingham Park. This annual 3-day polo tournament is the largest in Europe and brings together teams from six cities to battle it out for the title. The England international match will take place on the 9th June, and Ladies’ day will follow on the 10th June.
