High End Locations for Designer Shopping in London
As if we needed persuading to hunt down designer labels, London Fashion Week is upon us (<a “london fashion week” href=”http://www.londonfashionweek.co.uk/”>London Fashion Week)! For ten days the cool, ultra fashionable and best known names from the world of fashion and design gather in central London to show their Spring/Summer 2015 collections – look out for events on London’s streets and designer stores.
Below are some thoughts on the best London streets and locations for some essential designer shopping.
Bond Street
Famous for fashion’s most exclusive brands, Bond Street is the destination for designer shopping. Here you’ll find some of the world’s celebrated retailers including Burberry, Chanel, Dolce Gabbana, Donna Karen, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton (as well as Tiffany & Co, luxury jewellers since 1837). Bond Street is popular with celebrities seeking a retail therapy fix and the window shopping can also be satisfying (and kinder to your wallet). And look out for Browns, a well-known ‘Fashionista’s secret’, in nearby South Molton Street.

Dover Street Market
There’s fashion, then there’s Dover Street Market. This six storey design emporium is awash with luxury labels, for men and women, from Alexander McQueen to Saint Laurent, and, The Rose Bakery, on the top floor is a very convenient place to refresh,
review and retrench.

Knightsbridge
Harrods and Harvey Nichols department stores are perfect for designer shopping. Sloane Street
Internationally recognised as one of the world’s most exclusive and luxurious shopping destinations, Sloane Street is home to elegant catwalk fashion and most iconic designer brands. All the big names and their flagship stores are here: Tom Ford, Chloé, Dolce & Gabbana Roberto Cavalli, Valentino and Giorgio. Start from either Knightsbridge or Sloane Square Tube station and walk up one side, pause, and then down the other.
Liberty
Opened in 1875, Liberty is one of London’s most famous and traditional stores, but step inside and you’ll find cutting-edge names and designs including Vivienne Westwood, Chloé and Dries Van Noten. There’s also an impressive beauty hall on the ground floor that is well worth a browse.

King’s Road
Shopping has historically been the King’s Road’s main obsession since the 1960’s – here you’ll find an eclectic mix of trendy boutiques, unique labels, designer shops and high-street fashion. If 1970’s punk is your thing, this is where you’ll find Vivienne Westwoods shop which started it all off (although, it is quite far down and, appropriately, at World’s End).

Mayfair
It may be on a smaller scale, but the Mayfair area is fast becoming a fashionable destination for designers and exclusive shopping. Savile Row
If you’re looking for a handsome and hand-made suit, crafted the old-fashioned way (with a price tag to match), Savile Row is the only place to go. Known the world over as the home of bespoke British tailoring; the ‘golden mile’ is where you’ll find, to name a few: Ozwald Boteng, Gieves & Hawkes, Anderson & Sheppard and Henry Poole & Co, the first Savile Row tailor credited with inventing the tuxedo, and more. And, for younger shoppers, there’s Abercrombie & Fitch.
Nearest Tube: Bond Street or Piccadilly Circus
Westfield
The Village, Westfield, is a designer shopping destination in itself. With over 40 luxury brands you’ll find the big names: Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Mulberry, Prada, Jimmy Choo, and many more, all under one roof. And, sophisticated Searcy’s Champagne Bar is conveniently located to relax in after a hard day’s shopping.
